Many couples jotted down the year 2020 to have their dream wedding, the double digit of 20 is viewed as auspicious due to its resemblance of a pair, a coming of two denoting a marriage between two people and some other significance of goodness. It was also the country’s forward thinking vision towards a developed nation by then Prime Minister Tun Mahathir, remember Vision2020? But of course Covid-19 happened in March and completely turned things upside down to the extent many wished to erase the year from their calendar.
That was before Malaysia wrested the virus to the floor, now our country is adapting to the new norm. Covid-19 is under control and we are now entering a recovery phase where economic sectors once shut down are all resuming operations. With nearly 90% of businesses opening up, the wedding industry which includes planners, hall owners, florist, wedding gown shops, photographers and hoteliers have been all calling for a restart of the sector. Operators have been suffering since MCO with no income and having bills to settle. The industry is mostly managed by small enterprises and individual operators, the lockdown has caused many of them to shut down.
However, things are about to look up, all wedding industry operators have been asked to submit their suggestions with regards to SOP and once they come with a proper detailed compliance, they could resume their operations said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. The Minister will bring this up with NSC and once okay’ed, the industry could immediately start and no longer wait.
Finally, couples could get their dream wedding as planned but will need to readjust based on current procedures, with the easing overseas photo shoot is just around the corner even hotel bookings can already be made. Its also time to take advantage of the lower rates all around and save loads on your Covid-19 wedding.
