China Reports 57 New Covid-19 Cases, Beijing On High Alert

Chinese Health officials received reports that 57 new Covid-19 cases discovered in mainland China of which 38 were domestically transmitted while 19 were imported.

Of those reported, Beijing the capital city had 36 cases and the other 2 from Liaoning Province, this is the highest number of cases detected since the war on Covid-19 was officially subdued a month back. China was the first country in the world to be infected by the coronavirus infecting over 78,000 people and causing death to 4,634, the disease eventually spread across the globe affecting 200 countries and continues to ravage lifes.

But with a sudden reappearing of the virus among its community is an indication that society needs to be vigilant at all times, easing of lockdowns and lack of social distancing can bring about the return of an outbreak anytime. The Beijing government is on high alert with the latest incident, hitting closer to its capital, the sudden surge will surely prompt authorities to act quickly to stem the spread. A large wet market was identified as the main cause, it has been now completely cordoned off and extensive disinfection procedures are under way. Contact tracing has also been initiated to see how many people been in contact with the primary personals at the market.

Many nations look up to China on its methods of fighting the virus and how its opening up its economy, the playbook is similar to here in Malaysia, following step by step phases rolled by the Kingdom. Even micro outbreaks like this will be observed by rest of the world to see how the Chinese officials tackle them.
