Lots of 4K from Sony, with a dash of Hi-Res Audio.

This year’s CES is 4K-heavy and Sony is in the thick of it with a new series of 4K LCD TV, as well as 4K Handy Cam and Action Cam. That’s not all, Sony’s Walkman series stays on the Hi-Res audio track with the new premium Walkman NW-ZX2.
So what’s new for Sony’s BRAVIA 4K TV? Well, Android TV and the 4K X1 processor. For the first time, Sony’s smart TVs will be using Google’s Android TV as the OS. This means video streaming, Google features like Google Cast or Voice Search, and even gaming would be possible. For the latter, it means better clarity, colour reproduction and contrast. The highlight for Sony’s new range of 4K TV: the ultra-thin BRAVIA X9000C LCD TV, measuring at a mere 4.9mm. Unreal!
Here’s one the extreme sports enthusiasts – the Action Cam FDR-X1000V. Once more splash proof, this Action Cam can now capture in 4K at 30p or 24p. Professional skateboarder Tony Hawk himself field tested the FDR-X1000V on a snowboarding trip and had nothing but praises for it. “It’s changed how we shoot everything,” he says. Not much was said about the 4K Handycam, but we do know that it has a better balanced optical steadyshot feature.
The first to buy into Hi-Res Audio, Sony also revealed the Walkman NW-ZX2, MDR-1ABT Headphones, and PHA-1A Headphone DAC/amplifier during its keynote today. Together, these products give audiophiles much to be happy about.
That’s about it for Sony. Look out for more CES 2015 updates!
