Who says CES news can’t be comedy?

Here’s the thing about the tech industry, when you develop something that makes a ton of money, you can expect imitators trying to cash in on that success. Now the Oculus Rift isn’t out yet, but people are expecting it to be revolutionary, and the word “revolutionary” can be translated to “makes a truckload full of money”. Billionaire Alki David sees the VR Headset market as an untapped gold mine, and has shown off his own take on the VR Headset called the 3DHead.

So what technology does this cutting edge VR headset dubbed “the Oculus Killer” use? Well, the central component is a 7-inch tablet with a glasses-free 3D screen. To use it as a VR headset, you simply slide the central component into the helmet. Basically, the helmet docks the component in place, suspending the tablet 6 inches away from your face. How revolutionary!

When asked what makes the 3DHead an Oculus killer, the COO of 3DHead has this to say : “Oh, I don’t know, it’s just marketing stuff”.

If you’re curious about the 3DHead, or just like collecting pieces of really subpar tech like the Gizmondo or the Ouya, then you would probably want to know that the 3DHead retails for either USD 595 or USD 999. Honestly, we don’t know who to believe, the guys manning the 3DHead booth, or the online store.
