Celcom CEO Latest Bitcoin Scam Victim

In their effort in luring unsuspecting Malaysians into investing in cryptocurrency scams, unscrupulous actors have resorted using high ranked public figures in making their case more convincing. The latest being the Chief Operating Office at Celcom, Idham Nawawi.

A series of links and social media advertisement has been circulating urging investors to part their money into the Bitcoin trading purportedly endorsed by the CEO. This is not new, not too long ago there were scams similar to this which portrayed Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Maxis Chairman Tan Sri Ananda Krishna appearing on Facebook launching their own digital currency, which was quite believable to the extent a media outlet published the report as real. Prompted Tony to issue a statement and has since quit his FB account.

Its distressing to see such scams occurring and even more concerning the extent these scammers go to manipulate victims. They even use reputable media sites and doctor the news as if these CEO’s mad announcements of such ventures, many have fallen to these scams and lost their investment. We hope relevant authorities take action before they become widespread and continuously take effort to educate the public on such scams.
