Mega Man 11 only came out a couple of days ago, but it looks like Capcom is ready to take the next step for the Blue Bomber. The company today announced that its popular IP is scheduled to be adapted into a live-action Hollywood film for the first time.

The feature film will be tentatively called Mega Man. Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, known for directing Catfish, will write and direct the film. Besides that, 20th Century Fox will distribute the film. Also, Chernin Entertainment, which was involved in the Planet of the Apes films, will produce it with Masi Oka.

Capcom states that this deal aims to ensure that the film appeals to a diverse audience. The goal is to utilise the “grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for”.

Previously, Capcom teamed up with Hollywood to produce the Resident Evil films which, while critically panned, were a financial success. The director of said series, Paul W.S. Anderson, is set to make a film based on Capcom’s Monster Hunter games. Besides that, Mega Man: Fully Charged, an animated television show, aired in the West in August 2018.

Not much else is known about the Mega Man film. An official release date for the film has also not been set.

The latest entry in the series, Mega Man 11, launched on 2nd October for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
