For 12 years, Canon has hosted the PhotoMarathon competition designed to challenge participants creative boundaries and test their photography skills. In one day, contestants will use the device of their choice – compact camera, DSLR or mirrorless – to compose pictures based on three themes that are revealed on the day itself. The themes chosen this year are “Hidden”, “Beauty of Earth” and “Fragile”.
President and CEO of Canon Marketing (Malaysia), Andrew Koh said, “Once again, we welcome the overwhelming response to the competition especially in seeing so many people of differing expertise come forward to showcase their skills. The energy and wealth of creativity is simply amazing; it is testimony to a huge pool of photography talent in Malaysia. This competition also serves to unearth budding photographers and Canon is proud to help develop their photography interest and help them grow their skills to the next level.”
Koh also said that the purpose of the PhotoMarathon contest is to fuel the thriving interest among photography enthusiasts in Malaysia and provide them a platform to showcase their works among a wider audience.
The three judges this year were;
- Bonnie Yap, Canon EOS Ambassador and travel photographer,
- Fazry Ismail, Chief Photographer, European Pressphoto Agency, Malaysia,
