Bridgette Nerfed and Ana Tweaked in Overwatch PTR

Let’s get straight to the point: it’s not fun dealing with Bridgette in Overwatch. Maybe it’s a personal thing, but it’s not nice getting stun and knock-back many times. For those who despise Bridgette, like yours truly, rejoice as Bridgette is next to be get a huge nerf! Well, to be exact, Blizzard dials it down for Bridgette in just the ‘Public Test Realm (PTR)’ for now.

bridgette nerfed

Blizzard is reducing the amount of shield that her ultimate, Rally, gives to nearby teammates. Bridgette now provides a maximum 100 armor per player, reduced from 150. More importantly however, Blizzard is also increasing her cooldown for Shield Bash to 6 seconds, up from 5. Let’s hope that with Bridgette nerfed, I don’t need to keep using Junkrat to deal with Bridgette anymore.

On top of that, Blizzard are also giving Ana a tweak. Her shots now shoot through teammates that are at full health. This, hopefully, prevents silly situations such as below; poor Ana just wants to heal Orisa yet D.Va keeps getting in the way.

There is some speculation on r/Overwatch (Reddit), however, that this isn’t a good tweak; many Ana players, myself included, often heal a full health teammate who’s about to enter a fight.

“I like the idea of this change; but one thing that worries me is how it will affect Ana’s anticipatory healing. For example, a DPS on your team peaks at full HP and you know they are about to take damage; so you begin firing at them, only to waste a shot,” says Overwatch player u/mikeskond0m.

Blizzard is also buffing Ana’s magazine size. Her Bionic Rifle now has 14 bullets, instead of the current 10. Perhaps the most interesting change however is Ana can now use her Ultimate on herself. Her ultimate, Nano Boost, provides a temporary buff to teammates; in modes such as Free-for-All however, it’s kind of useless. Blizzard wants to rectify that by letting her Nano Boost herself specifically in Free-for-All only:

As usual, these changes on the PTR may not be final. Blizzard is always tweaking and improving the game, so this may not be the final change before the next patch. For the full PTR notes, you can click here.
