Blackpink Extends Contract With YG Entertainment

Blackpink has officially renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment, as confirmed by the label’s regulatory filing on Wednesday.

The quartet, comprising members Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé, will continue to captivate global audiences with their music.

The regulatory filing did not disclose the duration of the renewed contracts, but it put an end to the uncertainty that arose when their previous contracts expired in August.

Fans worldwide had anxiously speculated whether the members would pursue solo careers, potentially signaling the end of Blackpink.

“The board has completed a resolution about renewing the contracts with Blackpink’s four members,” stated YG Entertainment in the filing.

Debuting in 2016, Blackpink has risen to prominence as one of the world’s most successful girl groups. In 2022, they achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first female K-pop group to top both the UK and US album charts.

Their track “How You Like That” set a YouTube record in 2020 as the most-viewed video in 24 hours. Additionally, they made history in 2019 as the first female K-pop group to perform at Coachella and other major US festivals.

Following the announcement of the contract renewal, YG Entertainment’s shares experienced a significant surge of 22%, rebounding from a downward trend since mid-September.

Fans and investors alike can now anticipate more chart-topping hits and memorable performances from the global phenomenon that is Blackpink.
