Malaysians can now watch BBC programmes in Malaysia! BBC Worldwide and TM’s HyppTV announced the launch of BBC Player in Malaysia. (Not to be confused with BBC iPlayer – the UK counterpart of the VOD service offered by BBC)
BBC Player will be a Subscription Video-on-Demand (SVOD) service, allowing users to stream BBC content online or through apps on smartphones and tablets. The service will be available through HyppTV’s Jumbo Pack and viewers will get access to content from BBC First, BBC Brit, BBC Earth, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies and BBC World News, including the latest series of Top Gear (S24), available exclusively on BBC Player.
The channels feature different types of content:
- BBC First – for premium and original drama from the BBC and British independent production companies.
- BBC Brit – offering premium factual entertainment that is intelligent but irreverent, covering science, adventure, business, life-changing moments, extreme characters, quirky eccentrics, music, sport and comedy.
- BBC Earth – showcases the work of factual film makers as it takes audiences on a journey of discovery.
- BBC Lifestyle – inspiration for home, family and life.
- CBeebies – for pre-schoolers, offering a ‘learn through play’ environment where fun colours and friendly characters engage and captivate young minds, encouraging children to get involved.
- BBC World News – 24 hour global news channel, offering international news and feature programmes from a network of journalists. BBC World News reports global breaking news whenever and wherever it happens.

The BBC Player app is available on Android and iOS. It is also available online on www.bbcplayer.com. Viewers can also stream and download these BBC programmes to watch offline for up to 30 days.
