Last month, Bandai Namco revealed that Code Vein would release on 28th September 2018. However, the publisher and developer has promptly changed its mind. It looks like the company is pushing the game back to 2019 so that it can refine its gameplay to meet fans’ expectations.

The announcement reveals that the developer and publisher is doing this due to feedback received over the past few months. This namely involves the recent Anime Expo 2018 and last month’s E3 2018. Bandai Namco has made the decision to dedicate more time to further develop Code Vein; ensuring the final product meets the expectations set amongst media and fans. It’s not clear whether this indicates an underlying issue with the design, but it should spell well for fans if it means a great product.
In line with this announcement, Bandai Namco is also pulling Code Vein from Gamescom 2018. This means no new news or demos while the developer focuses on improving its product.
Code Vein was first revealed in April 2017. The game draws inspiration from the Dark Souls franchise, featuring difficult gameplay, as well as slow but methodical combat. Players take control of a fully-customisable vampire with super powers known as Gifts. With the help of AI-controlled partners, they explore a post-apocalyptic world, all whilst fighting off demonic creatures known as the Lost.
Though Bandai Namco also publishes Dark Souls, Code Vein’s appeal lies in its anime aesthetic. It’s developed by the same team behind the God Eater franchise, which shares a pattern of being an anime version of Monster Hunter.
Code Vein is due out for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2019. As we wait for more info, you can keep track of updates on Bandai Namco’s Twitter and Facebook.
