Welcome, welcome. Gather round. Please, order something to drink. My teh-o-ais-limau is coming.
So, we thought it might be nice to add some flavour to your weekends. True to the Malaysian tradition, we are here at the mamak table. Where we will share some interesting, quirky stuff that we’ve picked up in the week. If there’s a trivia, a joke, we will put them here too. The point of this is just a casual fun section, no rules.
So starting the mamak table this week, we just wanted to share about this odd little phone case that is essentially an Android phone on the back.
ESTI created the Eye phone case which comes with a 5 inch display, 2800 mAh battery, up to 256GB storage, dual SIM slots, an IR blaster, wireless charging, NFC enabled, with a 3.5mm headphone jack. And it runs Android 7.1 Nougat. So far on their Kickstarter page, they’ve raised (as of now) $348,996, surpassing their $95,000 goal by quite a margin. It supports iPhone 6, 6S, 7; as well as the iPhone 6 Plus, 6S Plus and 7 Plus.
Funny thing is this isn’t even the first time someone’s tried combining Android and iOS. No, seriously. Check out this guy’s little project. This little hack was done by Tendigi developer (and CTO) Nick Lee – who has a knack of installing some weird stuff on Apple products, including a Windows 95 on an Apple Watch. This one comes with openings for HDMI and USB ports, as well as a SD card slot.
Well, here you go. Two different approaches to having Android on an iPhone. To be honest, I am a true blue Android girl. Although it’s not like I don’t see the appeal of iPhones, I like tweaking around my phone, with more freedom for customisation. For iPhone users who wants to dabble on this side of the fence – this maybe your solution.
OK. Boss kira. Till next time – the mamak table will be open every weekend. Please, do share with us on Facebook if there are anything quirky, odd, interesting or just down right silly. It’s an open discussion around the mamak table after all!
