In the coming school year, more than 100,000 college students will enjoy the ease and convenience of carrying their student IDs on iPhone and Apple Watch. Students at major US universities will soon be able to use their student ID in Apple Wallet to get into dorms, access the library and even purchase their meals. The system adopted by the varsities uses Apple Wallet that monitors all payments made and also now works as an authentication program when used to access facilities in the campus.

How it works is, once students add their student ID to Apple Wallet, they simply hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a reader anywhere physical student ID cards are accepted on and off campus. The contactless student ID replaces the physical cards and solves one big mystery of missing ID’s. But the key is how the users no longer need to scramble and swipe the screen to the QR and scan or later show the phone to the merchant to show the payments. The universal reader should be able to read all wallets, monitor transaction and best of clear the cluttered payment counters that’s is currently inundated with ewallet promotions.
