Apple Reveals New Airpods

New AirPods come with a wireless charging case, Hey Siri support, and more battery life.

After months of speculation, Apple has finally announced its second generation of arguably the world’s most popular wireless earphones, the Apple Airpods.

The long awaited update to the first generation of AirPods will feature a new H1 chip that will result in longer battery life, faster connection and longer talk time in addition to ‘Hey Siri’ support, which will trigger its virtual assistant without the push of a button. Apple’s new chip is an upgrade on the W1 chip on its previous gen of AirPods which was actually borrowed from the Apple Watch series.

The new ‘Hey Siri’ function is set to make lives much easier. All one has to do to adjust the volume, make a call or change the song is say ‘Hey Siri’. Pressing buttons is now effectively a thing of the past. On top of that, users will now have two options when it comes to charging cases as well, with one being the standard charging case and the other being the much anticipated wireless charging case. Both the cases will allow for more than 24 hours of listening time per charge.

The new AirPods will retail at RM699 with the standard case and RM879 with the Wireless Charging Case. If you’re interested in just the wireless case, it can be bought for RM439 as a standalone. The latest AirPods are already listed on Apple Malaysia’s website but you can’t order them as of yet, which I know is a bummer especially after reading this far, but stay tuned for updates on its availability here!
