Tyler Blevins AKA Ninja

Apex Legends, the relatively new battle Royale top dog has been the talk of the gaming community for a while now. Their biggest competition is Fortnite by Epic Games. Quoting an anonymous source, Reuters reported that Tyler Blevins more commonly known as “Ninja” was paid $1 Million for playing Apex Legends. He tweeted out on Feb 5th to his followers about the game then streamed the game to his 13 million followers on the live-streaming site Twitch. Ninja, who is known for his Fortnite streams and brightly coloured hair, is one of the most famous gaming streamers right now.

EA have been capitalizing on the overnight success of Apex Legends and have been pushing hard in their marketing. They’ve poached top streamers from other battle royales such as PUBG, and Fortnite. So it’s no surprise if EA actually paid Ninja $1 Million. In the first few hours of it’s launch, EA generated 10 million signups in the first three days. And this was in part due to popular streamers adopting the game. Another popular streamer, Shroud who has six million Twitch followers to play the game.

This story goes to show that streaming and gaming are becoming more and more prevalent in the community.  Ninja has been associated with many celebrities during his reign as Twitch’s top dog. Drake, Travis Scott, and even more recently he was at the PSG vs Manchester United game with Neymar Jr.
