The years marks a historic change in Malaysia broadcast transmission, from the black and white days of analog signal going out from RTM in 1963 to today when we conduct a nationwide switch to digital broadcast.
Things have progressed significantly since the Ministry in 1997 mooted the plan to go digital, with Langkawi fully digitalised just a week ago with MyTV set top box in every home. And just yesterday Kedah was announced as the next state to be 100% digital. Media were informed that the roll-out will continue from northern region to south and is estimated to be completed by end of September.
To give an indication on the implementation phase for the next region that will go digital, the above info-graphics was released that depicts MCMC’s roll-out strategy which will see a nationwide completion making Malaysia only the third country in Asean to go from analog to digital.
