If you don’t know what Product(RED) is all about, it is a licensed brand which raises awareness and funds to combat HIV/AIDS. Apple has been supporting the campaign for so many years now and Amazon is no stranger to the campaign too. Last year, Amazon launched a Product (RED) of the Echo for a limited number of units. They are now offering the second-generation Echo in Product (RED) again. Amazon will donate USD10 to the charity for every Product (RED) sold.
Besides the colour, everything else remains the same. No changes made to the internal hardware and design except the addition of the red fabric which wraps the speaker. The Product (RED) Echo will go on sale for USD99.99 starting 5th of December. However, it will be retailing for USD69 on Black Friday.
Amazon Echo is a smart-speaker which connects to the Alexa Voice Service to perform mundane tasks like playing musics from your Spotify or even making calls. There’s more to offer than just these two services and it goes head-to-head with other virtual assistant like the Google Assistant. Unfortunately, Amazon’s Alexa is not available in Malaysia but Amazon is slowly expanding the support outside of the US.
