All 75 Mydin Stores Nationwide Goes Cashless

Local grown mobile ewallet app Boost is gaining grounds with retailers with over 30,000 merchants has just signed up with the cashless payment system. Recently, Mydin, another home-grown supermarket chain has joined the ranks of merchants offering cashless payment services for its customers.

Mydin is one of the oldest wholesale chain in Malaysia – established in 1940 – and has an expansive portfolio of business in the retail market. This includes the extremely popular Mydin stores known for offering affordable goods for the everyday Malaysian and premium stores like Sam’s Groceria catered for the affluent. In its efforts to bring revolutionary shopping experience for the customers, the group has collaborated with Boost and has begun offering cashless purchases in all its 75 outlets nationwide.

Users can totally now shop at Mydins without cash or card and by just scanning their Boost app at the counters the total amount can be directly transferred.

“Now with Boost, MYDIN customers are just a scan away at all checkout counters, encouraging a truly cashless lifestyle. In an age where smartphones are vital in one’s daily lives from managing daily communications with one’s personal life and work, as well as a source for information in your pocket, it’s only natural for them to ascend to the role of a wallet,” said Christopher Tiffin, Chief Executive Officer of Boost.

The app has just passed the 3,000,000 users threshold, making it the largest ewallet provider in the country and has strong presence at local hot spots such as pasar malam, food trucks, major F&B outlets and retailers and even online shopping platforms.

Recently the company expanded the cashless option to street parking, working together with DBKL for easy parking payments. The app can also be used for paying utility bills, prepaid top-up, gifting and earning cashback.
