The largest eCommerce platform in China Alibaba has a record monthly mobile active users of 529 million thanks to Taobao app, a number even Facebook will be envy of even though the social network site has a billion.
Recording another stellar half year, Alibaba added 22 million customers over to its mobile base in March and currently has over 466 million annual active consumers adding 13 million from last year. While no doubt Facebook has more person using the service to post and share, Alibaba has them buying and selling making a cut on every item sold on the online retail store. The company grew its sales by 56% in June making the bulk of the US$7.4 billion and saw strong uprising its cloud services with 96% increase in revenue. Chinese people spent US$40 an average buying from the site up from the previous year while mobile users spent US$26.
“Long term growth opportunities from various sectors are in place to see the group continue to achieve and deliver significant value to both customers and investors” said CFO Maggie Wu.
