
When you are popular and sought after you get copied or used to scam, flattery aside with online and social media this could end up as a troubling trend for companies.
AirAsia recently fell into this predicament, when a social media post went viral offering public free tickets through an online survey. The scam directs users to a link that similar to airasia and requires participants to answer questions in order to redeem the vouchers.
The airline issued a statement to be aware of such a scam and requested the public to be vigilant when forwarding such messages, especially when the links look suspicious. In addition there was also another scam circulating on Facebook, offering 268 free AirAsia tickets in conjunction with AirAsia’s 28th anniversary.
It has also warned sites and facebook page that hosts this information or by using the brand identity without permission to immediately stop or face legal action. Consumers are also advised to disregard such scams and not to click on any links or to provide any personal details. AirAsia states that all official announcements will be made via its official channels and credible mass media.
