With the commencement of flights soon, AirAsia has issued guidelines it would want passengers to take note before boarding during Covid 19. Different airlines will be following their own SOP, but some of the regulations will be standardised according to the health ministry, however international flights will be regulated by requirements of those destinations.

For AirAsia, firstly passengers will need to ensure on their own if are eligible to fly, if under home quarantine, recently discharged after treatment or reside in a Red Zone, they are advised not to book the flight yet. Also check if flying international and if those countries have restrictions for Malaysians.

Passengers are required to bring their own masks and wear it before, during and after the flight including during check-in and bag collection, AirAsia has warned that it will deny boarding if masks are not worn. Carry on baggage is limited to just one piece not exceeding 5kg, this is to allow social distancing and prevent unnecessary contact with the next bag. The new processes will be taking more time than usual, hence guests are advised to arrive at the airport 3 hours before departure.

For the safety of guests flying with AirAsia, all aircraft will be disinfected before flight and cleaned after every night stop, the procedure will take 2 hours and conducted in accordance with instructions from health authorities. Pre-flight routine will include, temperature checks, social distancing while queuing (markers on the floor), alternate check-in counters, hand sanitisers will be available through out the journey, cabin disinfection before departure and guests are encouraged to web check-in.

During flight further safety precautions will be taken, whereby all cabin crew will be wearing masks and gloves, seat distancing will be observed and aircrafts are fitted with HEPA filters which removes particles including virus from the air. Cabin crew will conduct temperature screening during arrival which is mandatory for all destinations.

Upon arrival, passengers will have to fill out health declaration forms, go through a thermal scanner while transit passengers will have to stay in the airport. Some country might require mandatory quarantine as regulation, so its best prior checks are made before flying.
