Acer globally made a remarkable turnaround from the brink of going under just a few years back, after the PC market market saw an onslaught due to continued drop in shipment, smartphone phenomena and the revival of the tablet. When the smartphones got more powerful the pundits were declaring the end of PC, then Apple launched the iPad with the likes of Samsung jumping on the bandwagon, the naysayers resigning PC to its fate. But fate had other ideas, as we have come to witness, the humble personal computer is seeing a turnaround, demand has started to grow again, consumers are sobering up to the fact for serious grinding and productivity, only a PC will do. Vendors like Acer realised this early on and have their A-game out to give consumers what they need.
The case is no difference in Malaysia, with Acer recording a whopping triple digit growth for 2018, according to Johnson Seet Director of Consumer Business the Swift series and Predator gaming notebooks have seen tremendous uptake, due to notebooks have become such powerful tools yet more affordable than ever before. Combining style and function into the products, Acer of today is not the one we were accustomed to 5 years back. Products look more sturdy and robust yet managed to bring elements of desirability across the series from Swift, Switch to the Predator’s.
Capping the year in celebratory mood, the company previewed the Swift 5, world’s lightest 15-inch laptop as well as unveiling a host of other laptops, desktop and monitors. Catering for every segment in a household, the Acer Aspire 5 is for families and users who need a powerful, function-rich notebook for media consumption while the Orion family with the Predator Orion 3000 is a mid-range gaming desktop for gamers.
Setting the tone for 2019, the preview and the array of products in display, Acer Malaysia is confident from the start-go. There’s the first Chromebook unveiled just a couple weeks back and the fact the team already started laying the ground work, will definitely lead to another exciting year for the company.
