In anincident in Pekan Jeniang, Gurun, Kedah, a three-year-old girl faced a moment of terror as she narrowly escaped an abduction attempt by a Nepalese man. According to Berita RTM, the District Police Chief of Kuala Muda, Assistant Commissioner Zaidy Che Hassan, revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 7:20 AM yesterday in front of a local eatery while the young victim was sitting alone on a motorcycle.

The 26-year-old suspect approached the child and brandished a knife at her neck, instigating a moment of panic. The child’s father, realizing the danger, swiftly intervened to rescue his daughter from the clutches of the assailant.

It is suspected that the motive behind the kidnapping attempt was to ransom the child for money to purchase food. Fortunately, with the assistance of courageous onlookers, the child was successfully freed from the suspect’s grasp, leading to the immediate apprehension of the perpetrator.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had entered the country a month ago and had run away from his employer on November 8. The suspect, experiencing hunger due to several days without food, resorted to desperate measures.

Police confiscated a knife from the suspect, who was subsequently referred to Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim for further examination. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need for public vigilance and cooperation to ensure the safety of vulnerable members of the community.
