In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 28-year-old man has become the victim of an elaborate marriage scam orchestrated by a woman and her father. The man shared the harrowing experience on social media, shedding light on the intricate deception that led to not only emotional anguish but also a significant financial loss.
The man, on his Facebook as Nurul Aiman, and his fiancée had been acquainted since 2021, and their relationship had progressed to the point of engagement, with the engagement ceremony held on October 12, 2022, in Kuching. The couple had planned to solemnize their marriage on November 10 and hold the wedding ceremony on November 11, 2023, in Matu, the woman’s hometown.
However, the situation took a drastic turn when, on November 9, the man’s entourage arrived in Daro for the upcoming festivities. To their shock, the homestay booked for their stay had no record of their reservation. Attempts to contact his fiancée went unanswered, leaving the man and his family in a state of confusion and concern.
“We were surprised when the homestay owner informed us that there were no reservations received for that date. I tried calling the prospective bride several times, but there was NO RESPONSE.” Nurul Aiman stated in his Facebook posting.
Undeterred, the man and his entourage proceeded with the journey, and upon reaching the designated location, they discovered that the preparations for the wedding were nonexistent. Distraught and bewildered, the man tried repeatedly to contact his fiancée and her father, but all attempts proved futile.
The shocking revelation came when the man sought information from a neighbor, who happened to be the maternal relative of his fiancée. It was then disclosed that his fiancée’s is using fake name, Nur Hanie.
Furthermore, she was not only already married but also had two children. The man’s financial losses included wedding expenses and dowry.
In response to this betrayal, the man filed a police report and has called for swift and decisive action against the woman, who is identified as a public servant working in the Immigration Department of Malaysia in Johor. The man emphasized the need for accountability, stating that such actions tarnish the image of the department.
The man concluded his social media post by expressing his determination to pursue legal action against, emphasizing that the truth should prevail in court. The incident serves as a cautionary tale about the risks of elaborate scams and the emotional and financial toll they can impose on unsuspecting victims.
