Choosing your next phone is never easy. You want great display, great storage, great camera, great speed and great security but there’s so many phones to choose from as most of them can offer you all those things. Today, we’re going to try and make your decision a lot easier. Or harder. I don’t know.

Recently we have reviewed 2 phones – the vivo X50 Pro and the OPPO Reno4 Pro. Both phones have some impressive things about them but there can only be 1 winner. Of course, ultimately, it depends on you and which phones you think best suits your needs but for today, we’re going to see which of these phones we believe can offer you the best performance at their respective prices.

vivo X50 Pro

Let’s start with the vivo X50 Pro which was reviewed by Radhika last month. The main feature on this phone is the innovative camera. The X-Series is known for its focus on photography but this time vivo has decided to place an emphasis on video stabilisation. The X50 Pro is the world’s first phone with a gimbal stabilisation system.

Performance and Design

The phone comes with a 6.56 inch display and matte finish exterior. The phone also has a glass back and does not stain fingerprints easily, which is good, gotta keep it clean. The X50 Pro comes in light and dark blue colours.

The fingerprint display is within the screen and fairly fast, responsive and accurate. The phone’s Full 1080P HD resolution is sharp and gets suitably bright when outside. The 90Hz refresh rate does the job but there’s no hiding the fact that it is not flagship grade.

The vivo X50 Pro has 4 rear cameras (48MP main camera + 8MP super wide + 8MP f/2.2 +13MP ‘bokeh’). On the front, there’s a 32MP camera for selfies.

The star attraction here is the 48MP Gimbal-like camera system which also contains Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS). The X50 Pro is the first phone to contain a gimbal camera which is technology most commonly used to stabilise cameras.

Running on a Snapdragon 765G processor, the X50 Pro proved to be more than capable of keeping up with our daily usage. The processor is still mid-tier, below that of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 865. The 8GB RAM definitely made a difference and added to performance quality.

For a flagship phone, the X50 Pro unfortunately doesn’t come with wireless charging and water and dust resistance but it does have a 4315mAh battery paired with 33W vivo Flashcharge support and it pretty much does its job.

OPPO Reno4 Pro

I posted my review for this phone earlier this month. The OPPO Reno4 Pro is a new addition to the OPPO Reno series that comes in 2 colours; Black and White. OPPO phones are known to be one of the best camera phones out there but will the other features be just as good?

Performance and Design

The OPPO Reno4 Pro comes with a 6.5 inch AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution and a curved screen. Just like the vivo X50 Pro, the back of the Reno4 Pro is matte plastic. The fingerprint reader is located at the bottom of the screen in the middle but it doesn’t do a very good job and it was getting a little annoying not being able to unlock the phone the first time.

The Reno4 Pro has 4 rear cameras; 48MP (main) + 8MP (ultra-wide angle) + 2MP (marco) +2MP (mono) and a 32MP selfie camera which I was very impressed with the results.

The phone runs on ColorOS 7.2, based on Android 10 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor which is a bit less than the vivo X50 Pro but still manages to get the job done with very little to no problems.

It’s disappointing to know that the Reno4 Pro also does not come with wireless charging but it does have a 4,000mAh battery paired with a 65W the SuperVOOC charger. With a full charge, the phone can last up to 20 hours on a basic use and it can charge from 7% up to 80% in 30 minutes.

The OPPO Reno4 Pro has an internal storage of 128GB which means you won’t have to worry about deleting  or transferring anything to make space. I’ve had 3000 photos and 20 videos on this things and I still had plenty of storage left.

And the Winner Is……

The OPPO Reno4 Pro!

This was a really difficult decision to make as both the vivo X50 Pro and OPPO Reno4 Pro are great phones that offers a lot of great things to consumers but the OPPO Reno4 Pro might be worth your money more so hear us out.

The vivo X50 Pro definitely has more features and an innovative camera but it doesn’t necessarily make it the best phone. Is it reasonably priced? Based on our review, we think so. But most consumers would opt for a more affordable phone so if you’re looking for just that, the OPPO Reno4 Pro is the one for you.

The OPPO Reno4 Pro is not a perfect phone, true, but at RM 2,399.00 for a flagship phone, that’s considered cheap. A 6.5 inch AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution, 5 cameras, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor and 4,000mAh battery paired with a 65W the SuperVOOC charger. You can’t deny, that’s a pretty good deal for its price.

Basically, most of the things the vivo X50 Pro has to offer, you can get it on the Reno4 Pro at a much affordable price. Of course, in the end, it all depends on you. What do you think of this comparison? Which of these phones is the best for you? Let us know in the comments.
