A syndicate involved in producing fake passport and visa for migrants illegally residing in Malaysia has been busted, the mastermind a permanent resident has also been apprehended.

Shah Alam, Chief Police ACP Baharudin Mat Taib claimed the group was actively in operation even during the Movement Control Order. Following weeks of surveillance, a raid was conducted at a premise here in Shah Alam whereby a suspect aged around 58 was hauled for questioning, the foreign man confessed to the crime and pointed to other individuals who were also involved in the act. This led the police to another raid at a different place in Klang, where 2 more suspects who were also foreigners were apprehended. These individuals worked on the printing and forging of the documents.

Apart from fake passport and Visa, they were also generating fake Covid-19 test result papers which were apparently going for RM150 a piece. According to one of the suspects, these documents were in demand for illegal foreigners in the country, many were seeking them to get jobs. A web of network involving many parties got caught, which eventually led to the collapse of the fake document syndicate, but the amount of falsified papers out there is still unknown. Baharudin has his team tracing the records they found at these places and are trying to recover them as soon as possible.

During the arrests, the police uncovered 80 fake passports from various nationalities including India, Nepal, Indonesia and Philippines, among them were also copies of visa’s, immigration cards, printers, laptops, bank books and fake Covid-19 test papers.
