Microsoft Edge’s New Surf Game Is Better Than Chrome’s Dino Jumper; Change My Mind

When I read about Microsoft’s latest iteration of their ‘Easter eggs’ into their very own Microsoft Edge Browser, I wasn’t too keen on it simply because, what could it bring to the table? After checking it out myself however, I realised it’s a cute and pretty well thought out endless runner game. It’s quite literally on par with many mobile games out there, and is actually even better than some other mobile games I’ve come across.

This isn’t exactly new, as I’m sure many of you are acquainted with Google Chrome’s ‘No Internet’ dinosaur mini game. To me though, it’s leaps and bounds better than Chrome’s own iteration of such a game.

To check out the game for yourself, make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version of Microsoft Edge Browser here. Then, go to the address bar, and simply type in edge://surf and you should be good to go.

And if the game feels at anyway at all familiar, it’s probably because the game was heavily inspired by the iconic SkiFree game. It’s pretty simple, but you can use your mouse, keyboard, touchscreen, and even with a gamepad if you were feeling a little more serious. There are multiple surfers to choose from, power ups to pick up, obstacles, and a freakin’ Kraken chasing your a**.

Overall, it’s a cute little time killer that I’m sure will get some gametime. Unfortunately for Microsoft, I probably am not going to play it anymore, solely because Chrome is my daily driver. They’ll need a lot more than cute mini games to get me aboard the Edge train.
