GTA 6 In Early Stages Of Development, Could Launch Small And Expand With Regular Updates

It seems that Rockstar is reportedly working on GTA 6, and it is now in the early stages of development. But it also looks like they might be rolling out the game in stages, with a ‘moderately sized game’ and expanded via regular updates.

This come from a new report from Kotaku, which detail a follow up of the investigation into crunch culture at Rockstar, and plans for the studio’s future. There’s not much reference to Grand Theft Auto in the article itself, and it was simply dubbed “a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series”. But for the sake of keeping things simple, we’re calling it GTA 6.

Two things are getting clearer with the this new update to GTA 6’s development life. With the timing of it, as well as the fact that it’s only in early in development, GTA 6 is likely to be a next-gen exclusive. We probably won’t see it anytime soon on PS4, or Xbox One.

Secondly, this report of a “moderately sized” release and and be expanded with regular updates over time, which would help Rockstar employees mitigate stress and crunch culture. This could also mean, that Rockstar is more in favour of adopting a structure akin to GTA Online, and updating the game with regular free expansions, and content. Which isn’t a bad thing, but considering if they do this to the main, single-player elements of GTA 6, I’m not sure how that would pan out with fans.

Even with the amount of fans and people against crunch culture, and opting for the game developers to have a stress-free schedule, there’s bound to be toxic fans asking for everything all at once. But of course, this is still very early in development of the game, so their plans could change.

Whatever the case, we’re most likely to see a killer, new experience with GTA 6, one that we’ve likely never seen before. Especially when it comes over for the next-gen consoles, considering the new features and graphics. I’m sitting here, imagining what it could be like, and you know what, I’m hyped for it. Whatever it is.
