According to TheNational, BlackBerry had announced that it sold 600,000 mobile phones during the first quarter of the year. The two mid-range smartphone will incorporate a full touch screen and a keyboard. Though it was not made clear when is BlackBerry launching the mid-ranges phone.

The smartphones are said to cost below US$500 to make it much more appealing to consumers that demand high end functions with an affordable price. Mr Chen said that while BlackBerry would continue to release updates for BB10, there were no plans to launch new devices running the operating system.

BlackBerry financial reports have shown a slight improvement during the last quarter but the company will leave the mobile market if it is not making profits.
