Apple’s local site today listed the price of its soon-to-be-released Airpods. And that price tag – a cool RM849! The initial announcement of the Air Pods had an estimated price of US$159. Yes, it’s a little steep for a pair of glorified wireless ear buds, but we weren’t expecting a much better price from the boys in Cupertino.

And of course, according to them, the Airpods are far from regular wireless ear buds. Thanks to the new W1 chip, they instantly set up and are ready to work with your iPhone and Apple Watch. It even knows when you’re listening and automatically plays and pauses your music as necessary. You can even talk to Siri by double tapping one of them. The ultra-low power W1 chip also operates at one-third of the power of traditional wireless chips, enabling AirPods to deliver up to 5 hours of listening time on one charge. The custom-designed charging case holds additional charges, for an industry-leading more than 24 hours of total listening time, ensuring AirPods are charged and ready to go whenever you are.

It should be noted that these will work with older versions of the iPhone (and a few other compatible devices) but many features will be missing.
