At Photokina 2018 in Cologne, Germany, Fujifilm unveiled two new entries into its GFX medium format family. The GFX50R is a rangefinder design camera, while at the same time Fujifilm also announced the development of a 100MP medium format camera with phase detection and in-body image stabilisation (IBIS).

The underpinnings of the GFX50R is the similar to the previously launched GFX50S – but now in a more discrete body. The GFX 50R features the FUJIFILM G Format 43.8 x 32.9mm sensor with a 51.4MP resolution and high-performance X-Processor Pro image processing engine to provide outstanding color and tone reproduction. It is also weather-sealed, making the magnesium-alloy body robust enough for a walk in the rain.

The GFX 50R is equipped with a 0.77×3.69M-dot organic “OLED” electronic viewfinder for accurate focusing and framing images. This is on top of the 2-inch 2,360K-dots touch screen color LCD monitor at the back.

Fujifilm also announced that it is in development of a new member of the GFX family. The new camera has no name as of yet, but the medium format sensor is capable or capturing 100MP images with a click of the shutter. Features of the camera include both phase detection autofocus and in-body image stabilization. It is also 4K-capable for video captures.

The new Fujifilm GFX50R will be available starting November, with a sticker price of USD4,499 (~RM18,610). The 100MP GFX model is set to be released sometime in 2019, with an estimated price of USD10,000 (~RM41,366).
