AMD Threadripper Powers First Area 51 Desktop

AMD has launched its most powerful desktop processors ever and the first in queue along the production line to receive the Ryzen Threadripper is non other than Alienware Area-51 gaming desktop.

The new Alienware Area-51 Threadripper 1950X edition, sports a similar Triad chassis design to that of existing Area-51 systems, but incorporates the new processors giving users the option of Intel’s Core i editions. It will be the first -ever 16-core desktop processor with CPU liquid cooling.

After a record year with success on Ryzen, AMD has released two models the Threadripper high end desktop processors, 1950X and 1920X. Built around the new AMD x86 “Zen” core architecture, Ryzen Threadripper delivers exceptional power over its rivals, suitable for gaming, 3D graphics and multimedia.

Both models support the new SocketTR4 platform, sports 64 PCIe lanes, quad channel DDR4 memory, and AMD simultaneous multithreading. The 1950X supports for 16 cores and 32 processing threads while the 1920X provides 12 cores and 24 processing threads. A third variant, the 8-core 16-thread 1900X, is expected end of the month.
