Acer took the stage at IFA 2018 in Berlin to showcase its new line-up of products heading globally. The new Acer Swift 5 was shown on stage, and immediately grabs the title of the world’s lightest 15-inch notebook at only 990 grams.

Even though it is a lightweight, it punches above the board in performance. The 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8565U and Core i5-8265U processors delivers power on tap for any kind of productivity needs. Acer used magnesium alloy for the chassis which ensure lightweight but tough construction.

The processor is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of NVME PCIe SSD for blazing fast boot time and file access. Acer says on paper the Swift 5 15-inch can last for up to 10 hours per charge.

The screen is a 15.6-inch Full HD 1920×1080 IPS touchscreen with ultra-narrow bezels measuring at only 5.87mm. Fast and reliable WiFi connection is delivered via a 2×2 802.11ac wireless Gigabit network card. The Swift 5 features a USB 3.1 Type-C Gen-2 port delivering high-speed 10 Gbps data transfers and supporting power delivery and display output, plus two USB 3.1 Type-A ports (one with power-off charging functionality), and an HDMI port

There is also an updated Swift 5 14-inch model now with the latest Intel Core i7-8565U and Intel Core i5-8265U processors. It now weighs only 970 grams and shares the same design as the larger notebook.

The new Swift 5 family is expected to ship out early 2019. No Malaysia availability announced but do stay put to know more about the Acer Swift 5.
