Nikon New Mirrorless Cameras Named As Z6 and Z7

We know the date for the new Nikon camera launch. Now we have more info on what the cameras will be; or at least the name of the cameras. Nikon will be labeling the two new mirrorless cameras as the Z6 and Z7, alongside the introduction of a new mount, the Z-Nikkor.

The two models will be targeting different markets, like how Sony’s A7 line offers different models for different applications. The Z6 is said to feature a 24MP sensor that is tuned for low-light photography. Meanwhile, the Z7 is a 45MP beast, focusing on those looking to have high resolution images at their fingertips.

Along with the two new cameras, Nikon will be showcasing a new mount, tentatively called the Z-Nikkor. Three new lenses made for the mount will be launched: a 24-70mm f/4 zoom, a 50mm f/1.8 prime, and a wide angle lens (no focal length details shared). After the launch, Nikon will also launch a new prime lens for the Z-Nikkor mount, this time as a 58mm f/0.95 lens.

The official launch will be on August 23rd, according to the count down timer on Nikon’s official teaser website. We should be getting more information on the new camera by then, so stay tuned.
