Webe Prepaid By Year End With Unlimited Data

Sometime back we posted an article stating the possible launch date for Webe prepaid, the newest member of the mobile telecommunication network looking the usurp the status quo was rumoured have the service available in September and plans were rife for an imminent grand event.

But as we all came to find out, a change of guard took place at TM (parent company of Webe) in May with the incoming CEO Dato Sri Shazalli Ramly replacing Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Modh Isa and as we know it the plans for the launch was sent back to the drawing board by the former Celcom Axiata CEO. Major management changes ensued with Webe CEO Aziz Hadi being absorbed back to TM and the appointment of Moharmustaqeem Mohammed (Mohar) a former Digi product head as the new Chief Executive Officer. Top marketing lead Lai Shu Wei was also moved to head TM’s newly formed division said to be looking at overseeing both the wireless and fixed business entity.

Shazalli being a thoroughbred brand and marketing man has been working actively for the past 5 months in establishing a solid identity for TM and Unifi and was said to quite unpleased with Webe’s prepaid model when he was presented with. But now we hear from reliable sources the product is ready and will be making its debut before year end. A much anticipated prepaid plan with both consumers and competition closely waiting to see the what the proposition is going to be. The segment which is highly volatile, prepaid users tend to switch operators without any second thought with annual movement of over 3 million. If anything to go by as was with the postpaid offerings, the prepaid will come with unlimited data regardless of package and a host of service bundles from TM.

If Webe prepaid packages hits the sweet spot, there is a strong possibility for the TM acquired company to start making serious inroads into the mobile wireless market. Webe boasts of strong 4G network at most cities across the country, and will have TM to support deadspots with Unifi Wifi, a combination that will end users a near zero downtime in connectivity.
