Valve Was Just Issued The Maximum AU$3M Fine in Australia Over Steam’s Refund Policy

Valve has been issued a AU$3 million fine by Australian Federal Court because its online Store Steam apparently breached the country’s consumer laws.

The maximum fine was levied on the American corporation for its complete disregard for Australian law, which required giving consumers the option for a refund to ensure that  Australian consumers get a minimum guarantee of quality. It should be noted that Valve recently put a refund system in place, but in the time before this was implemented, more than 21,000 Australian users had asked for a refund.

On top of the fine, Steam must now place a notice on its Australian website about consumer rights.
