Olympus just pushed out their latest in the Tough lineup with TG-5. Taking much from it’s older sibling, TG-4, the TG-5 also comes with much upgrades to suit thrill seekers.
The TG-5 is fitted with a 12MP CMOS sensor with an f/2.0 wide angle lens and 25-100mm focal length (35mm equivalent). While it does sport a slightly lower pixel count compared to its predecessor’s 16MP, Olympus said the picture processing tech from OM-D E-M1 MKII will make up for any drawbacks.
It retains the durability of it’s older sibling – so shockproof up to 2.1 meters, submerged up to 15 metres without protective casing (45 metres with casing), withstand up to 100kg weight and freezeproof down to -10C.
The TG-5 will be able to shoot video in 4K at up to 30fps and full HD recording up to 120fps. It also comes with dual pane anti-fog glass, so drastic changes in temperature won’t be a problem;.
There’s 16 different preset scene modes and different art filters to add a little creative flair to your photos. Everything is viewed on the 3-inch LCD screen on the back, and there are glove-friendly control dials and an underwater HDR shooting mode to help you get the best from the camera.
The Olympus TG-5 will be available in the UK from mid-June in red or black for £400 (approx RM 2300). No word if it’s coming here yet.
