We seem to be getting a lot of printers these days, something we don’t see often. HP sent us one this time around and it’s one that sports some useful new technology. Let’s take a look at the new HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw

Desk Friendly

While it’s small enough and compact, do be careful when lugging this around because it’s heavy! At 16kg, you’d want to make sure the desk you use is sturdy. In terms of its appearance, the M277dw looks common enough, with the large paper tray and an LCD screen to navigate through the functions. For general office use, it also has the ability to scan, copy and fax; definitely handy for start-ups or small companies looking for a mini MFP. To store the paper you need, it comes with a 150-sheet paper tray and also supports manual feed, so that you can materials like envelopes or photo paper. Annoyingly enough, our papers got stuck a few times when we tried to use the manual paper feeder.

Smarter than before

Straight out printing is the M277dw’s main strength, as it can print normal quality black and white at 14ppm and colour prints at 13ppm. The printer seemed to have a slightly shorter warm up time than other laser printers of the same price range, though it’s not quite noticeable if you don’t actually time it. More importantly, print quality was fantastic. The M277dw delivered sharp clarity with text and dealt with colour well. As a smaller scaled MFP for an office, I really can’t complain about what this printer can deliver.

Wire Free

Say you’re rushing and you need to print a file in your email, but you’ve switched off your laptop. No problem, Wi-Fi direct or NFC that file to the printer to get it printed! It even has a degree of security since you can set it to only print items in the queue once the user is authenticated. With all the features it has, I’d say that the M277dw has a lot to offer to small offices or leaner organisations.
