11street turns 3

Since its launch in 2015, 11street has garnered more than 13 million product listings on its platform. This according to its infographics, comes from over 40,000 sellers.

Hoseok Kim, CEO of 11street, reveals how the company has seen considerable growth in several facets. Beyond overall business operations, expansion also affected its product selection and variety of merchants. From 2015 to 2017, for example, the company saw more than 300% growth in total gross merchandising volume (GMV).

Kim adds, “It’s very thrilling to celebrate this milestone. This achievement reinforces our confidence that Malaysia will experience significant advancements in its eCommerce industry. [In fact,] 11street intends to be at the forefront of this industry growth as we continue to meet the Malaysian demands and explore new ways to enhance the shoppers’ experience.”

The e-commerce company has seen an over 200% increase in the total number of sellers registered on its platform. This is literally double the 160% growth for its product listings since 11street opened for business in Malaysia. Top performing categories include ‘Baby and Kids’; ‘Mobile and Tablets’; and ‘Skin and Personal Care’. Interestingly, it also sold over 500,000 F&B and service e-vouchers in 2017 alone. Malaysians have a knack for wanting convenience; it shows when they are the ones who spend the most on movie and petrol vouchers; photobooks; and dashcams.

Furthermore, 11street discovers how online purchases for automotive; home décor; smartwatches and women’s accessories have also increased. As is, it considers these categories as the fastest growing among its product categories. Malaysians also have a knack from buying a lot from China, Korea and the USA the most.

Kim and his team has no plans to slow down anytime soon. He also intends to continue improving the quality of its sellers through its seller development programmes. These initatives include the Seller Zone and 11street Academy – Malaysia’s first eCommerce certification program.

“We’re also grateful to our customers for their continued support and loyalty throughout the years. In 2018, we continue our commitments to enrich the daily lives of Malaysian; we do this by bringing in a wide variety of products. They will range from specialty items to everyday necessities;; all of them will have competitive pricing,” Kim adds.
