Chris Rock is now apparently, in a new Saw film along with Samuel L. Jackson; Spirl: From The Book of Saw. The Chris Rock led entry into the long-running horror series also got a poster and trailer, and they’re… Well, not convincing to say the least.

If you’ve ever seen a saw movie, you’ll know why it’s called “Spiral”. It’s because of the cheeks of the villain Jigsaw’s puppet, Billy. Duh. And the trailer has a bunch of the design around, and even though I want to be scared. It just didn’t feel that way.

Oh, and not only does it star Chris Rock, it also features the story he created. So I’m sure you’ll be able to see some of his humour embedded in the film.

But Spiral also starts Samuel L. Jackson, and that really is the part I want to see. I mean, even in the trailer we see Samuel dole out his iconic motherf***er catchphrase:

“You wanna play games motherf***er?”

I mean, come on, gold.

Okay maybe I’m being a bit harsh to Chris and the movie. The trailer is dark, and gives you a sense of the original franchise, but to me it looks to be straying away from the concept that was the Saw series. But hey, maybe I’m wrong, and this a crazy good horror film.

It’s just that nothing really caught my attention as I thought it would’ve. And I guess I can’t relly picture Chris Rock in a serious, non-gooofy character. It’s engrained in me to think that Chris Rock is funny. Hopefully, I’m proven wrong. Hopefully.
