Samsung Electronics has officially launched One UI 8, bringing enhanced multimodal AI capabilities, improved user experiences across device types and personalised, proactive suggestions to its Galaxy devices. The rollout begins this week with the Galaxy S25 series, followed by the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S24 FE and additional eligible models later this year.
One UI 8 features advanced personalisation tools paired with upgraded security measures. The update includes Now Bar 2 for real-time app activity on the Galaxy Z Flip’s FlexWindow, Now Brief 3 for customised daily updates and Samsung Moments for reflecting on routines. Health insights from Galaxy Watch are also integrated. The new Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) safeguards sensitive information, while Knox Matrix signs devices out of Samsung Accounts if serious risks are detected. Upgraded Secure Wi-Fi with post-quantum cryptography further strengthens privacy on public networks.
Multimodal AI enhancements aim to make interactions more intuitive. Gemini Live allows users to communicate with AI in real time, while Circle to Search provides in-game guidance and on-screen translations. One UI 8 also includes AI Results View, Multi Window for large screens and tools like Drawing Assist and Writing Assist to boost productivity and creativity. The update supports features such as Audio Eraser, Portrait Studio for pet portraits, Call Captions and Interpreter for instant translations.
Samsung has optimised the user experience for different device form factors. On Galaxy Flip devices, Gemini Live is accessible directly from the FlexWindow, while the clock design adapts to wallpapers and users can customise emojis and background colours. AI-powered tools aim to make everyday tasks more seamless and convenient.
In Malaysia, One UI 8 will be rolled out to the Galaxy S25 series on 18 September, Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 on 25 September, Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 on 2 October, Galaxy S22 series, Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 on 6 October and Galaxy S21 FE on 16 October.
Samsung is also offering promotions for the Galaxy Z Series until 30 September, including a double storage upgrade for new purchases of selected models.
