Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced that its 2023 Neo QLED and QLED models have received the “Low Vision Care” certification from TÜV Rheinland. This recognition underlines Samsung’s dedication to making viewing more inclusive and accessible to a wider audience.

EVP and Deputy Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, Seok Woo Yong, expressed the importance of technological innovation being available to everyone and reaffirmed Samsung’s mission of “Screens Everywhere, Screens for All.”

Samsung’s development of Relumino Mode aims to enhance specific aspects of videos, such as highlighting outlines and improving contrast and sharpness, to aid viewers with different types of low vision in discerning content on the screen and following the actions.

Amblyopia, commonly known as “lazy eye,” affects approximately three percent of children, making it one of the prevalent low vision issues experienced during childhood. In most cases, a child’s brain tends to ignore signals from one eye, leading to an underdeveloped visual pathway.

TÜV Rheinland, a prominent international certification body, grants its “Low Vision Care” certification after evaluating the impact of technology on user experiences for individuals with amblyopia. Various tests compare the clarity, sharpness, and overall visual comfort of normal display modes with the Relumino Mode.

Samsung’s screens have also received certifications for “Circadian Rhythm Display” and “Eye Care” from Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), as well as the “Glare-Free” validation from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for technologies that offer safer and more comfortable viewing. Furthermore, Samsung’s screens are “Pantone Validated” and “Skin Tone Validated,” meeting color accuracy standards set by Pantone.

This recognition underscores how Samsung’s innovation positively impacts consumer experiences with technology, further establishing Samsung’s global TV leadership over the past 17 years.
