Since we are on the topic of milestones, this Silicon Valley company doesn’t need much introduction as they have just about 1/7th of the planets population constantly on their social network.

Billionaire/Philanthropist/CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted in his latest post, stating that Facebook has hit a staggering 1 billion user in a single day! “On Monday 1 in 7 people on earth used facebook to connect with their friends and family he wrote. When we talk about our financials we use average numbers but this is different. This was the first time we reached milestone and its just the beginning of connecting the whole world.”

The number one social network site has 1.5 billion users using its service and continues to grow, as more people move to mobile for their updates and postings these numbers could just expand exponentially with growth of smartphones continue. Facebook has adopted mobile much quicker and now harnessing the influence of smartphones, something Google tried with Google+ and failed miserably.

With programs like internet.org and drones to bring internet to places that still have yet to have any connectivity at all, Facebook’s agenda to get the whole world connected and be on its network is a dream that soon could be a reality.
