F1 Champion Starts eSports Team

Accustomed to adrenaline level sports, Formula One racer Fernando Alonso is no stranger when it comes to high octane, pressure-driven competition. So when the announcement came that the McLaren driver is starting his own eSports team, it got the attention knowing Alonso is about to try to conquer another type of circuit.

The FA Racing G2 will be focusing on racing games with former F1 Sports champion already agreed to sign on, team sponsors include Logitech G, the gaming series under the gaming peripherals maker.

“Every Formula One driver is a gamer at heart,” said Fernando Alonso. “Competing on the virtual stage opens a vast amount of possibilities for young drivers that wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to get into racing. For the first time ever, fans are no longer just spectators but can take part in the game and maybe become real sim racers on my team. I cannot think of better partners than G2 Esports and Logitech G to start this up with and I am raring to get going!”

Alonso also launched his brand of clothing line Kimoa, which is the official apparel sponsor for the team, looking to expand his presence in the sports, the former Ferrari champion has clearly gotten his bearings in place for the future after the glitz of F1 fizzles.
