SteelSeries recently announced the Nimbus+, a gaming controller for Apple devices that is a step up from its predecessor.

The biggest difference between the Nimbus and the Nimbus+ are clickable joysticks, ultra-responsive triggers, and whopping 50-hour battery life. In comparison, its predecessor had 40 hours of battery life.

The controller charges via a Lighting cable, like its predecessor. It also has a Made for iPhone (MFi) certificate, therefore allowing third-party devices to take advantage of features (like optimised button mapping) on Apple’s hardware.

The Nimbus+ will come bundled with a controller mount, making gaming on the iPhone easier.

If you haven’t figured it out already, the Nimbus+ is basically SteelSeries’ Stratus Duo controller, but for iOS instead. The Stratus Duo is only compatible with Android and Windows devices.

As such, the Nimbus+ is compatible for both iPhone and iPad, as well as Apple TV and Macs. Anyone with an Apple Arcade subscription will be able to play their favourite games with the controller.

The controller’s appeal is mostly for those who do not have a gaming controller but want one to play their favourite games on Apple devices.

For anyone with either a PS4 or Xbox One console, buying this product is a little redundant as they could just connect their existing controller to Apple devices. Only Apple devices running iOS 13, tvOS 13 and macOS 10.15 Catalina are compatible, though.

So if you have an Apple device that can’t run the latest software or no gaming controller of your own, SteelSeries Nimbus+ serves as a good controller to enhance your iOS/ macOS gaming experience.

The controller currently costs $/RM303.40 on Apple’s website and will start selling on the SteelSeries website on May 26.
