Malaysia Restricts Travel To These Countries

With the spread of Covid-19 reaching even the far corners of Africa after overwhelming Europe, Malaysia is adding a few more countries into the no-travel list that are mostly affected by the pandemic.

Malaysia is experiencing a relatively low case count of Covid-19 compared to others in the region, however the numbers which hovers around 250 with no deaths thus far could change when the tracing of the large Islamic gathering is fully concluded. The lower case is probably the reason our border gates are not closed and there has been no state of emergency at the moment. However, the Prime Minister is taking precautionary steps of restricting Malaysian from travelling to affected areas and restricting travels from some of these zones.

In a press statement, Tan Sri Muyhiddin has declared China, namely 4 regions there, Japan, Italy and South Korea as no-go zones. Travel to these places are strictly prohibited at the moment in order to keep citizens from potential contraction of the deadly virus that has been plaguing these regions. After China, Italy is recording the highest number of cases with death toll rising on a daily basis prompting WHO to declare Europe as the new epicenter. US is closing its borders to anyone from Europe and has since taken strict measures in the States after spikes were recorded in some of the cities.

We won’t be surprised if the travel ban list grows in coming days as more countries join in enforcing restriction and travels to contain the spread of the deadliest virus pandemic in the 21st century.
