The Second Edition of Monopoly: Games of Thrones Now Comes with Music

Come January 2019, fans of Game of Thrones still bummed over the news that the upcoming eighth season will be the final one in the series have something to look forward to – the second edition of Monopoly: Games of Thrones. The main highlight of this new board game is the Iron Throne card holder, which could be switched on to play the Game of Thrones theme song while you play for dramatic effect.

Apart from this very significant addition, Hasbro has also added more aesthetic upgrades to the pop culture-adhering cult classic. In keeping with the Game of Thrones theme, the normal paper currency of Monopoly has been replaced with silver stags and gold dragons to reflect the coins used in the Game of Thrones world.

The gameplay is simple and may come off very familiar: players control houses of their choice and buy up land all around Essos and Westeros to weaken their opponents before eventually taking over the world through cunning and capitalism.

Interestingly, due to the nature of the HBO series, this version of Monopoly is intended to be played by people aged 18 and older. It is also the first-ever Monopoly game to have music incorporated into the experience.

Monopoly: Game of Thrones is available to pre-order online at some major retailers for $29.99.
