Alibaba is entering into a strategic partnership framework agreement with the government of Macau Special Administrative Region, where the first four years will see the eCommerce company support the city’s digital transformation using cloud technologies. This includes smart transportation, smart tourism, smart healthcare and smart city governance, all while developing talent in the city.
“By leveraging the power of technology and connecting resources of different government departments, the project is expected to enhance the model of socio-economic operation in Macau, expediting the city’s transformation into a smart city,” states O Lam, Chief of Office of the Chief Executive.
Before this, Alibaba succeeded in reducing traffic congestion in Hangzhou’s Xiaoshan District by using artificial intelligence. This was achieved with the launch of the Hangzhou City Brain, which was responsible for sending out instant traffic alerts and route suggestions to users using real-time prediction of traffic movement.
