It’s amazing that in a time span of just a short few years, point and shoot digital cameras are almost ready to take on full-fledged DSLRs.
I’ve been using the new Olympus XZ-1 extensively now for almost 6 months. I use it anything from simple snapshots to full on professional jobs. With the quality of the lens and high ISO settings I can almost do anything with new point and shoot from Olympus.
Recently I went to Shanghai, China and the only camera I used was the XZ-1, and I must say – the results were nothing short of stunning. I was able to hand hold shots from shutter speeds as low as 1/8 of a second due to the camera’s high ISO capabilities and the super fast 1.8 lens it comes with.
The build quality is wonderful, nice and solid yet not heavy at all, and it’s a camera you can carry all day long without feeling tired. In the past, point and shoot cameras where nothing but a joke, fancy on the outside but when it came to delivering quality images it always fell behind traditional DSLR cameras. Well that’s all changed now with these new generation point and shoot cameras. With outstanding quality lens and excellent in-camera software, a photographer is limited only by their imagination.
Take it from me who has used hundreds of digital cameras – this little Olympus XZ-1 is a powerhouse ready to challenge anything out there on the market today.
