Steam Box Reveal at CES2014

The Consumer Electronic Show 2014 aka CES2014 has, to date, the biggest pre-show openers ever as nearly all the large vendors from within the ICT industry. From LG to Samsung, Sony and Sharp, and even Intel and NVIDIA – all of them had a pre-event press conference to announce and showcase their latest and greatest for the year.

So far, we’ve seen advance wearable gadgets from Sony and LG, a new camera flagship marque for Sony, curved OLED 4K TVs by Samsung and LG, Sharp’s 8K TV, hyper-intuitive interactive PC platforms, and even more smartphones and tablets from all the usual suspects. What can we say, this is CES – the birthplace of modern innovation, all things shiny and sleek, and the best platform to show-off the best of the best in technology.

PC.om would like to start off our ‘live’ coverage by diving into the highly anticipated Steam Box from Valve. Well, based on the reveal, it is more accurate to call these new Steam-inspired products Steam Machines. And to be exact, 13 types of third-party Steam Machines, had been introduced this early morn.

The 13, with most of them now set for purchasing soon, have very decent specs to fit just about all the demands of any gamer. They are:

According to Valve’s Co-Founder and Managing Director, Gabe Newell, there are other vendors as well that are readying their own Steam Machine offerings but, at press time, only Maingear didn’t make it to the finalised version of the list that Steam compiled for CES2014. We know for sure they will make a showing here in Malaysia. Matter of when it will come.

Personal favourite: Alienware, Webhallen, and Origin PC
